Important Notes
# Wizard Wars is a text based, role playing, strategy game that requires good
thinking in order to play it successfully.
# This game is turn based. It means that there is only so much you can do in
one day (or turn) with your wizard.
# Please note that you decide on the interactivity you want to have with the
other players. We have tools such as the forum, chat-room, guilds, wars and
duels that will help you decide how much you interact with others.

What to do first?
So you're new to the game? We suggest that you take our Guided Tour of
the game site, it provides a better understanding of the game and appears further
down the page, BUT for those of you that are eager to begin, here is a brief
outline on how to play...
# Step 1: Try to imagine what kind of wizard you
want to be. What kind of magic will you train the most? Do you want to be fast,
intelligent and strong? Will you play alone or are you going to seek allies?
# Step 2: It is time to choose your preferred
magic. Click on the link 'Preferences'. The top section of that page is to set
your preferred magic. Choose between FIRE, WATER,
EARTH, or WIND. Click
on SAVE once you have chosen.
# Step 3: You start with 106 experience points
with which you can use to improve your stats (vital statistics). Click on the
link 'Stats'. All stats are useful.
Each STAT has a different function and can affect how well your wizard progresses
in the game.
You will need to experiment with the different combinations of advancement
on your STATS to gain a balance that makes your wizard advance faster and become
stronger in the game.
PHYSIQUE affects how hard your spell will hit
its target
REACTION affects your speed and agility
KNOWLEDGE affects your ability to use different
spells
STAMINA affects how many times you can take
a hit before going unconscious
CONCENTRATION determines how many mistakes you
will make while casting spells
WISDOM allows you to use your stats and spells
to their maximum
# Step 4: Gold pieces are the common currency you
are going to use throughout the game. You start with 100 gold pieces, and you
should use them to train your spells. Click on the link 'Spells'. There are
two types of spells: ATTACK spells and DEFENCE spells. We suggest that you only
train the attack spell of your preferred magic. As for the defence spells, the
choice is up to you.
# Step 5: Do you want to try getting experience
points right away? Of course you do! Click on the link 'Duels'. Choose any opponent
in the pull down menu and click on the 'Duel Now' button. Even if you win or
lose, you should have won experience points. Go back to the 'Stats' page and
do some improvements.
# Step 6: You should now choose a stadium. There
are 6 stadiums to choose from. The first four stadiums are for players that
concentrate their defence and attack spells on their preferred magic. The fifth
one is a random stadium and is normally chosen by players with balanced attack
and defence spells. The sixth one is played with the preferred magic of every
wizard. It is normally used when your defence spells are balanced. Stadiums
are run once every 24 hours and an email report will be sent to your email address.
Please make sure that you sign up with a valid email address.
The Other Options
We suggest that you take a look at all the options in the game. Items, Levitation
Mode, Controlled Duel, Curse, Enemies, Guilds, Wizard Tower War, Discussion
Forums, Chat and Post Office are all part of the game. Most of the sections
have their own FAQs. Click on the title of every section to see its FAQ.
The Guided Tour
Want to know more? Well here is a simple walk through of what is what and how
you accomplish your goals.
Your goals! Well there is a great place to start! You are probably sitting
there wondering what this game is about. Your goal should start with building
the best wizard in the game. We all want to be the best, don't we? We
don't play games to lose!
Now that that is out of the way, here is an explanation of the game: A turn
based strategy game involving player vs. player and stadium battles in which
you gain experience and gold to become the best wizard in the game!
So, "How do you do it?" you ask. That will be totally up to you. But we
are going to do our best to get you started, and have some understanding of
how to do it.
First, let's look at the main screen. We have all our links on the left
margin. Here is what they do, listed from top to bottom:
Summary: This is all about you. Once you log in,
this is the screen that comes up. It tells you your overall ranking, your overall
performance in the daily stadiums, your total experience points, gold, silvers,
and has a link to change your levitation mode. It also informs you of how many
days are remaining in your free trial period or, if registered, details of this.
Last Night Summary: This is what happened for
your last stadium battle, and is a cut down version of the email that you would
normally receive.
Stats: Adjust your wizard's stats with the experience
you have won.
Spells: Adjust your wizard's spells with the
gold you have won.
Items: This is where you can purchase items to
help boost your stats and spells. You use silver pieces, which are won in the
Guild and Wizard Wars, and by referring other players (that register) to the
game. This option is for registered players only.
Betting Shop: Take a gamble, Want more gold, well
the betting shop is for you, as long as you can afford to lose. Research the
wizards to find out who is doing well then make you choice. Wizard Wars betting
is based on choosing the winning wizard in a stadium. If you choose the winning
wizard then you will recieve the amount of money you bet multiplied by the worth
of that wizard.
Example: You bet 500 gold coins on Wizard1 (2 multiplied by your original bet
of 500)
If Wizard1 wins then you will receive 1000 gold coins (2 multiplied by your
original bet of 500)
f Wizard1 makes top 3 then you will receive 666 gold coins (66% of what the
winning bet would have been )
If Wizard1 makes top 10 then you will receive 333 gold coins (33% of what the
winning bet would have been)
If Wizard1 does not make top 10 then you lose 500 gold coins.
Note: Your initial bet does not get returned to you... only what you win
Levitation Mode: This is where you change how
you play in the daily stadium. COWARD, BRAVE or MAD. If you use BRAVE or MAD,
you can raise your experience and gold winnings, but beware, you may get injured.
There is a chart detailing what your chances are of being injured and the reward
for each 'mode'. Each time you play as MAD, you earn 2 dangerous points. Dangerous
points increase your winning experience in stadiums by 10% per dangerous point.
If you don't play as MAD for 7 days, you will start to lose 1 dangerous point
per day until you play as MAD again.
Preferences: This is where you set your preferred
magic. Registered players can also change how their stats read if someone zooms
in on them. Registered players can also change their email address. There are
other preferences to go over, like your password. This is where you change,
or set, how you want the game to communicate with you. Registered players can
also create a description for their wizard.
Stadiums: There are 6 different stadiums that
run once every 24 hours. A countdown timer on the left side of the screen tells
you how long you have to wait until the stadiums run.
The other wizards that you are fighting against in the stadium are in your
experience group (which you can see by clicking the "players in your group:
## " button under the stadium name).
Daily Duels: Where you go to battle players 1
on 1. You get 3 duels per day (at report time) and you can accumulate 10 duels
in stock. All duels are fought using your preferred magic
Guild War: This is a controlled stadium, in other
words, you choose your wizard's actions for each round, and you win gold and
experience with each turn. In this stadium, you fight with your guild if you
have chosen to be in one, and even if you are knocked out, if anyone from your
guild survives, you get a portion of what they get for winning, and that is
silver! Guild War is for registered players only.
Wizard War: Same as for Guild War, except there
are no guild bonuses. This is a free for all, every wizard for him/herself.
Again, this is for registered players only.
Controlled Duel: Hear is a chance to duel another
wizard on an interactive level - 1 on 1. Choose an opponent, set your move and
try to guess what the other wizard will do. There are no prizes except winning
itself. Are you up for the challenge?
Wizard Tower War: This is a stadium with a difference.
Turns run every 6 hours instead of each day. In Wizard Tower War you move around
a grid (the towers) trying to knock out as many wizards as you can for gold
and experience. You receive 100 gold and 50 experience points for each knock
out you get in the stadium. Be sure to check out the rules link.
Curse: For each daily duel you win and for each
player you refer that signs up, you get a curse to assign. This link is where
you distribute them. Curses are used against your enemies to try and hinder
their performance in the daily stadium.
Enemies: This is where you list which wizards
you want to go after in the daily stadium. The name at the top of the list is
the first wizard you will target, and once that wizard falls unconscious you
move to the next on the list. If you do not list anyone, you will attack random.
Guild: If you have chosen to join a guild, this
is where you can see who your guild members are and communicate with them via
email or via their own Private forum. If you want to create your own guild,
you can do so here but only if you are a registered player.
Guild Hall: This is a listing of all the guilds
and if you don't belong to one, it informs you of which guild you are eligible
to join.
Registration:
This is where you register your wizard. You do have to pay once your free 21 day trial period is over. Registration also opens
up a lot of new options in the game.
Post-Office: This is the internal mail system
for the game, think of it as private messaging.
Zoom Other Players: You can zoom in on another
wizard and see their summary screen here. Just remember that if they are a registered
player, their stats may be adjusted.
Discussion Forum: This is a message board. You
can seek answers to questions about the game or just have a bit of fun. Guilds
also have access to their own private forums here.
Chat: This is a chat room. When you log into
the game you are not automatically put in the chat room, so if you want to talk
to some one, and there is no one in there, it will only show you in the room.
When you first log in, the name of the last person that was in the room is generally
there and disappears after a second or two. This is not someone leaving when
you come in, so don't take it personally. We recommend all players try staying
in the chat room for a while. If you have questions, and hang out in chat, another
player may come in that can answer your questions without having to wait for
an email or a message board response.
Referrals: If you want to refer another person
to the game, pass on your 'address link' that is found here and receive some
rewards. You can also see how many referrals you have made.
Logout: Like it says...

Welcome: This is the main screen that you arrive
at when you log into http://www.wizard-wars.com. This will tell you if you are
logged in or not.
Sign Up: Where you create your wizard name and
password.
Wizards: A link to a group of statistical listings
of wizards now playing. This includes all of the groups, top wizards in each
category and ratio of placing in different fields.
Reports: Daily Stadium reports and breakdowns
of each stadium. When you view a particular stadium, you can zoom (located at
the top of the screen under the stadium name) which will give you a different
statistical breakdown of who did what.
Discussion: Another link to the forum.
Wizards Library: Brings up this page.
Links: Links to other interesting web sites,
registered wizards can get their website listed here.
Let the Fun Begin
All right, all right! You are ready to do something now aren't you?
Set Preferences: Click on "Preferences". You need
to choose your preferred magic. Your choices are: FIRE,
WATER, EARTH, or WIND.
Use the scroll box under the default magic to choose your preferred magic, highlight
your choice, and save.
Choose Stats: Now you need to go to your stats
button. You should see Stamina, Reaction, Knowledge, Physique, Concentration,
and Wisdom.
Physique: how hard you hit.
Reaction: speed and agility.
Knowledge: allows you to cast different spells.
Stamina: determines how many hits you can take
before you fall.
Concentration: determines how many mistakes you
do or don't make while casting spells.
Wisdom: determines your ability to use your stats
and spells together.
After each stat is a number that represents the level your wizard is at. The
number in the parenthesis is the amount you add for the items you have. Then
there is another number followed by a .
This number is how much exp it is going to cost for you to raise that stat by
one level. You need to decide how to build your wizards abilities here. Pick
a stat and click on the plus sign, the page will refresh and you will see that
level raised and the cost to move up to the next level will also be raised.
Use all the experience points that you can to raise the stats as you want.
Choose Spells: This is where you are going to
train your wizard to use the magic of your choice, or, all magic, depending
upon which stadium you choose to fight in, plus your defence spells. It is highly
recommended you only raise the attack spell of the preferred magic you have
chosen, and raise the defence spells against all magic. When you have used all
the gold you can, go to the stadium button.
Choose Stadium: The stadium is where you fight
once per day against other wizards within your experience group. When the page
opens, you will see six stadiums listed. The first 4 - Fire, Water, Earth and
Wind are stadiums where you use your preferred magic to fight against other
wizards that use the same. The next stadium is Wild Wands, in which all wizards
are randomly given a type of magic to use. You should only play in this stadium
if you have trained in all the four different attack spells. The last stadium
is Mystical Mahem. This stadium has players fighting with their preferred magic.
All magic is used here. If the stadium you choose to play in does not have 5
or more players you will automatically be put in 'Mystical Mahem'. Underneath
each stadium you will see either an arrow pointing up or
a big "O" . The stadium with
the "O" is the stadium you are currently playing in. If this is not the stadium
you wish to be in, then click the arrow underneath the stadium that you want
to play in. The page will refresh and the "O" will now be underneath the stadium
you have chosen.
There is also an "In your group:##" below the name of each stadium.
If you click on this, all the players in your group for that stadium will come
up in a separate window. This is all you do here. The stadium will automatically
run when the timer reaches 00 hours/00 minutes. Check out the Enemies list options
to possibly help you in your stadium, and use curses to hinder other wizards
performances.
Daily Duels: Now we have our daily duels. On this
option you can pick a player and duel them. You gain experience for every daily
duel you participate in, regardless of the outcome. Of course you get more experience
for winning than you do for losing! There will be a scroll bar with a wizards
name in it. If you scroll down you will see that all the wizards with more experience
than you are listed here. If you choose to duel a wizard with less experience
points than you have, you have to type it into the box next to the scroll and
click the "duel now" button. Your page should refresh after you choose a wizard
to duel and click the "duel now" button. There will be a listing of what happened
in the duel. Your opponent will receive an email of the duel, and so will you.
Now go back to the stats and allocate your experience that you just earned.
You can do this 3 times a day. You receive 3 duels to do every day at report
time. If you are unable to duel daily you can accumulate up to a maximum of
10 duels. You can always have fun beating up on a friend or family member that
is in the game too!
Wizard Tower Wars (WTW): You can join the WTW
at any time. The goal here is to stay alive and knock out as many wizards as
possible. Turns run every 6 hours (10pm, 4pm, 10am, and 4am GMT.) Once you have
joined, make sure you click the list button. Here, there is a grid, with wizard
names in the boxes. Each square is an area. To fight a wizard, you must be in
the same area. Scroll the grid all the way down and you will find a list of
icons. If you notice, some of these icons appear under your wizard name and
if you are close enough to other wizards, they have icons under their names
as well. To do an action, click the icon representing the action you wish to
do. You must click the icons on the grid, not in the key. The page will refresh
and at the top of the grid and you will see the action you have chosen. You
can change your action as many times as you choose, but only the last action
will be the one you do. You can move around the tower grid, but only every 2nd
turn. You start with Hit Points (HP) which = 5 times your STAMINA, but the minimum
HP you can start with is 50. You lose 3 HP per turn plus whatever you get hit
for. If you have less than 6 HP left, you will not lose 3 for each turn. You
get 50 experience points and 100 gold pieces per KO (knock-out). Once you get
knocked out, you have to wait 1 turn before rejoining. The result button will
tell you who did what to who, etc, in the previous turn/s. Unfortunately "young"
wizards are easy prey so don't get discouraged if you keep getting KOed, just
join again and keep trying.
Well that is basically it. You have done all your turn options for the day.
We recommend you search out the site, check all the buttons, click on the title
of each page to get the FAQ. Read the forum's and post your questions, it can
be very helpful, not only for you but to other players. After the stadium runs,
reports are sent out and all your actions are reset. You can do your duels again,
allocate stats, spells, etc.
Good luck and most importantly - HAVE FUN!
And please, if you have found this informative, show your appreciation to Raven
if you see her hanging around the chatroom, if it wasn't for her - this old
document would still be sitting somewhere in the mire that is "The Library"...
